Tokyo
Tokyo is the largest city in Japan with over 12 million people residing in the bustling and modern city. We explored Japan's salon/spa culture to discover Aveda's up-and-coming popularity. Popular services in Japan include perming and hair spa (20-minute relaxing shampoo experience). Products like Smooth Infusion™ and the Brilliant™ line are favorable among the Japanese. Aveda Institute Denver and Tucson's future professionals were guided by Global Purefessional™, Mat Slater and learned cutting techniques and makeup in Japan.
London/Berlin
"London and Berlin were amazing! The advanced education that I had an opportunity to receive was fantastic. The Future Professionals that attended the trip were truly the best, the European team mentioned several times how amazed they were at the advanced skills and knowledge of our students. Getting the opportunity to visit London and Berlin during this trip was beyond inspirational. India
Based on the ancient tradition of Ayurveda, Aveda was born in India. Our India Study Abroad trip included a visit to Swami Rama's Himalyan International Institute in Rishikesh, the ashram where Horst Rechelbacher developed the concept of Aveda. Being in the physical space where Aveda came into reality, was a deeply moving and spiritual experience.
Additionally, the India Study Abroad experience included stays at beautiful Indian resorts and hotels, including Ananda in the Himalayas, an ancient palace whose spa offers traditional Ayurvedic treatments and lifestyle guidance.
The educational experiences in India were invaluable. Not only did we watch a traditional bridal preparation, we had the pleasure of having Rudy Miles with us to demo his modern makeup interpretation. We also observed the practice of eyebrow threading and henna application.
Other activities included riding an elephant to the Jaipur Palace, visiting the breathtakingly beautiful Taj Mahal, participating in an Aarati ceremony on the banks of the Ganga in Rishikesh, just to name a few.
